JERSEY CITY (AP) — Authorities have captured a man who they believe was involved in a murder with the man who fatally shot a Jersey City police officer over the weekend.

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop says 23-year-old Daniel Wilson was armed when he was taken into custody Sunday night. He’s facing multiple drug and weapons charges.

Wilson’s arrest was announced Monday morning.

It came several hours after Lawrence Campbell shot and killed Melvin Santiago, a rookie city police officer who was responding to a reported armed robbery at a 24-hour drugstore.

Fulop said authorities had been “aggressively seeking” Wilson for another homicide that he and Campbell allegedly were involved in.
