Matawan Standoff Ends Peacefully
A standoff at an apartment ends peacefully in Matawan.
51-year-old James Wierzbicky surrendered to police after barricading himself inside his home at the Tree Haven apartments on Ravine Drive according to the Asbury Park Press. The incident lasted about 2-and-a-half hours; there were no hostages and no one was injured.
Police found guns inside Wierzbicky’s apartment but did not say what kind or how many.
Some residents in nearby units were evacuated from their homes as a precaution.
The Monmouth County Emergency Responce Team (MOCERT) assisted in negotiating with Wierzbicky according to the Matawan-Aberdeen Patch.
