Forty-four-year-old Tahn Le was sentenced in federal court Monday to 400 months in prison and ordered to pay $112,689 in restitution. In January, a federal jury had found him guilty of conspiracy, robbery and other offenses. Seven other defendants have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.

Authorities say Le and his co-defendants targeted successful Asian business owners in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia because they believed the owners had stored up significant amounts of business proceeds in their homes.

Investigators say the defendants brandished handguns, tied up the victims and sometimes beat them.
