Man Killed In New Brunswick Street Shooting

Middlesex County authorities are investigating the shooting death of a New Brunswick man who was gunned down on a city street.
But a motive for the shooting, which occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday, remains under investigation.

Acting Prosecutor Andrew Carey says police responding to a 911 call found 19-year-old Eduardo Mendez outside a home in the 200 block of Talmadge Street. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Further details on the shooting, including what type of weapon was used, were not disclosed Sunday. But witnesses said they saw a man running from the scene moments after the shooting occurred.

No arrests have been made.
