Robert Norman was convicted last July on attempted murder, sex assault and weapons charges.

Cumberland County authorities have said the 22-year-old Millville man sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint in April 2011 and stabbed her multiple times. The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was partially disemboweled from the attack, and DNA evidence linked Norman to the crime.

The victim has recovered from her wounds and spoke at Norman's sentencing on Friday.

Prosecutors say Norman received two 18-year sentences that will run consecutively, meaning he will have to serve nearly 31 years before he becomes eligible for parole.
