Authorities say 27-year-old Ameem Fields wasn't wearing a helmet when the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. They say the off-road motocross dirt bike didn't have lights.

Fields hit the passenger side of the car and was thrown from the bike. It's not clear if the car was stopped or moving at the time.

Fields was injured and his 23-year-old brother, Jaquill, was killed when they were struck last June by a car allegedly driven by Paterson officer Jose Urena, who was off-duty at the time. He was indicted last month on charges of knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal accident and endangering an injured victim.
