Man Convicted in NJ Weapons Cache Case
A former Virginia man has been convicted on all charges related to a cache of weapons found inside his New Jersey motel room.
Lloyd Woodson, whose last known address was in Reston, was found guilty of attempted armed robbery and several weapons offenses. A Somerset County jury returned its verdict Tuesday after deliberating for less than three hours.
The 45-year-old Woodson faces up to 28 years in prison when he's sentenced Aug. 17.
Branchburg police found the weapons in January 2010 after responding to a suspicious person call at a convenience store.
Woodson fled when police confronted him, but was soon captured.
At the time, Woodson was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a loaded semiautomatic rifle. The hotel room search found more weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
