SOUTH HACKENSACK — A 45-year-old warehouse worker from Newark was charged with setting fire to a truck parked near a school in this Bergen County township.

Jose Lopez was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree aggravated arson following the incident Tuesday.

Authorities said an Allen Party Rental truck parked behind the business’ warehouse on Huyler Street was set ablaze about 3:01 p.m. The area was within 10 feet of the property of Memorial School on Dyer Avenue, Bergen County Acting Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal’s office said Friday.

Lopez was nabbed after surveillance video showed him in the area at the time the fire started, officials said. He works for A-1 Tablecloth, which operates out of the same address.

Authorities did not release details of the motive.

Lopez was being held at Bergen County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
