An upscale outlet mall is in the works for southern New Jersey, about 15 miles southeast of Philadelphia. It's going to be built in Gloucester Township by affiliates of two major mall developers, the Simon Property Group and the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust, whose properties include the Cherry Hill Mall.

Gloucester Township Mayor Dave Mayer tells the Courier-Post newspaper the project will put his town on the map as a major shopping destination.

The mall will be known as Gloucester Premium Outlets and contain a planned 90 designer and name-brand stores. It will be located on land near Route 42 and the Black Horse Pike.

The mayor tells KYW Newsradio that construction is set to begin this fall, with the first stores opening in November 2014.
