An early morning fire in Lakewood leaves a six-year-old child dead and injured several people.

Lakewood Police say the fire started around 2 a.m. on Sterling Avenue. The child and another victim were trapped by the fire and were rescued by the Lakewood FAST team according to TheLakewoodScoop.com.

Two other children were also hospitalized while the parents and four first responders were treated for smoke inhalation.

 

Police tell the Asbury Park Press the child's older brother is in critical condition.

The cause is under investigation
