Kean University student is second to die in Essex County crash

A Kean University student is one of two people who've now died after a Tuesday car crash, NJ.com reports.

Quoting the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, it said driver Devon Smith, 22, of Newark, died Wednesday at University Hospital after after receiving treatment there. His Ford Mustang had crashed into a tree and telephone pole near Mountain Avenue in Caldwell, according to the report.

Passenger Theo Walsh, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said. Another passenger remains in critical condition.  The report said the circumstances of the crash still remain unclear.
