If you're walking the Belmar boardwalk on May 24th and you see hundreds of brightly colored business men and women dancing in unison, don't be alarmed-- it's just the shore's biggest flash mob organized by the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Convention and Visitor Bureau president Robert Hilton says the concept behind the event is to unite the tourism industry around the shore. He says anyone related to the tourism industry in the tri-state area is invited to come down and have some fun (and possible make a slight fool of yourself).

"Our industry is about having fun." Says Hilton "a lot of times when we get started getting into the season we tend to work a lot and not have fun so this is an attempt to get everybody together and really do something out of the box."

Hilton says there will be two training seminars for business managers to learn the dance and take back to employees. The dates and times aren't known yet , but he says it will be at the Coliseum Fitness Center in Asbury Park and the other at the Two River Theater in Red Bank.

Participants will have a chance to meet with the choreographer who created the dance.

Hilton does acknowledge that "traditional flash mobs" are held private until they are unleashed on unsuspecting passerby's, but for this event anyone interested can get a taste of what's in store online.

(We're not giving away all the details but you can see the dance being performed here)

According to Hilton, both big companies and non profits have already signed on and will be clad in their promotional shirts, which Hilton notes will be a "great promotional tool".

Ultimately, Hilton wants the flash mob to convey the Jersey Shore as a "fun rocking place".

"I want to make sure that when people think about going on vacation they consider the Jersey shore as a place they want to come."
