Big Joe checked in with Kevin Burke the event coordinator of The Polar Bear Plunge. Kevin had some great news, they had reached over 6,000 plungers as of 11:00a and an estimated 1.122 million dollars has been raised so far. The total money raised is expected to be 1.6 million by the end of the day!!

Big Joe also interviewed Marc Edenzon of The New Jersey Special Olympics.  Marc detailed how today's event helps to support The Special Olympics in NJ and the 23,000 athletes that compete yearly. For more information or if you want to volunteer go to www.sonj.org

Spirits are high here in Seaside today. Everyone is having a great time playing games with the NJ101.5 Prize Team and enjoying the bright sun, pretending it's the middle of July.  We'll have video of the the plungers and more photos as the event continues so check back soon.
