I-295 Accident, Rain Slows Holiday Traffic

A fatalaccident on Interstate 295 in Hamilton has combined with the rain to slow traffic in Hamilton at the start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

New Jersey Fast Traffic reports an overturned tractor trailer carrying sheet rock overturned onto a car in the median at Arena Drive in Hamilton. The driver of the car was killed according to State Police.

2 of 3 lanes were blocked in both directions with police, fire and rescue equipment.

The rainy, cold weather has not stopped drivers from starting their drive to the Shore and other destinations for the long holiday weekend. The New Jersey Turnpike, 42 Freeway, Route 37 into Toms River, Route 72 heading to Long Beach Island, the Atlantic City Expressway and Routes 47 & 347 all report heavy traffic.
