Howell man faces vehicular homicide charges
A Howell Township resident has been arrested and charged with homicide.
On Monday, Joseph Gonsalves of Howell was arrested and charged with second degree vehicular homicide for the death of a 21-year-old rear-seat passenger, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said the driver was in violation of multiple laws, including driving while intoxicated, underage driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to maintain lane.
Gonsalves’ bail has been set at $75,000 with no 10 percent cash alternative.
According to an emailed press release, if Gonsalves is found guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
