Still crowing over Tuesday's victory in the state legislative elections, Democrats are geared up for the lame duck session.

State Democratic Committee chairman John Wisniewski says his party will stick to and try to advance its core values.

Governor Chris Christie has education reforms atop his agenda and he's hoping to work with Democrats on the issue.

Wisniewski says, "Education is an issue that Democrats intend to address. We're going to address it in a fashion different from the Governor instead of demagoguing teachers and the education system. New Jersey is tired of a Governor who demagogues every issue that he disagrees with. We're going to work in a way where the Governor certainly can join us and support our initiatives or he can be left standing at the station."

Asked if Democrats plan to take on controversial issues such as a millionaire's tax increase, the legalization of same-sex marriages and/or stricter environmental regulations, Wisniewski responds, "I think all of those issues are potentials for legislative action."

Christie has vetoed a millionaire's tax hike bill once already and vows he'll do it again if another bill passes the legislature and lands on his desk. The Governor has also been very clear that he would not sign a gay marriage bill into law. These facts might not deter the Democrats.

"For the Governor, policy is only done correctly if it's done his way," claims Wisniewski. "We have an approach that we're willing to collaborate, we're willing to cooperate, but we have some basic values that we're going to stand true to."
