Somerset County Prosecutor  Geoffrey Soriano says Jared Colon,17, died from a punch to the head from a 16-year-old male during an argument at a home on Orchard Drive. Colon was flown to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick where he died on Monday.

The Hillsborough teen, identified only as "S.M," was charged with manslaughter in the second degree and was held at the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center.

"HHS offers sincerest condolences to Jared’s family and friends, as well as to all members of the HHS family who share in this loss," read a post on the HHS website.

Counseling was made available at HHS on Tuesday and guidance counselors will be available as well.

"Jared was an unbelievable kid. He was awesome,"  his mother Beth Colon told 7 ABC, describing him as an "old soul."  She said Jared liked dirt bikes, fishing and caring for the many animals he kept at home. Beth said Jared's organs were donated so "He will give life to others."

She will also create a fund to help people like "S.M." with anger issues.
