Heat and Humidity Continue to Bake NJ

New Jerseyans are dealing with another round of oppressive heat and humidity.

Most of the state was under excessive heat warnings or heat advisories on Tuesday afternoon, as temperatures soared into the mid-90s and humidity levels started rising. The National Weather Service said a record temperature was tied when it hit 100 degrees in Newark, matching the mark set in 1988 and 1997.

The heat index was around 100 degrees in most areas on Tuesday afternoon, and is expected to be near 105 degrees on Wednesday.

But forecasters say relief is on the way.

Thunderstorms will likely hit the region by late Wednesday afternoon, and temperatures should be closer to normal on Thursday.
