Gas leak closes part of Rt. 9 in Ocean County, police say
STAFFORD TOWNSHIP —Police and fire crews are investigating the source of a gas leak that resulted in a road closure at the start the evening rush hour Wednesday.
According to the Stafford Township Police Department, township police and crews from the Stafford Township Fire Department and NJ Natural Gas Company are on the scene. The leak occurred in the area of Route 9 south and Cedar Bridge Road.
Police have closed the southbound lanes of Rt. 9, and traffic is being diverted onto Hilliard Boulevard. The northbound lanes are still open, authorities said.
