Two people were ejected from a car heading southbound on the Garden State Parkway in a crash that shut down the southbound side of the highway entirely Thursday afternoon.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. At around 4 p.m., State Police reported all lanes had reopened but were moving slowly. Both people were alert and conscious, and one was flown to an area hospital, police said.

A New Jersey 101.5 listener messaged the station Thursday to say traffic was at a "dead stop."
