Class A North

Howell 21, Freehold Township 20

Senior quarterback Connor McGlynn ran for a 10-yard touchdown late in the third quarter and Tom Wilson added his third extra point to give the Rebels (3-3, 2-1) a 21-20 lead and the Rebels' defensive back Tyler Smalls came up with a game-sealing interception in the end zone with under a minute left in the game to knock off the Patriots (1-5, 1-3).

Junior Jarvis Leaks opened the game with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Howell, and McGlynn also threw a touchdown pass to Mike Reilly.

Matt Pine had a 3-yard touchdown run, and Collin Bitsko had touchdown runs of 2 and 10 yards in the loss for Freehold Township.

No. 2 Manalapan 48, No. 3 Colts Neck 18

The Braves (6-0, 4-0) handed the Cougars (5-1, 2-1) their first loss and took a huge step toward their fourth straight Class A North crown, while also winning their 20th straight divisional game and their 21st straight game against Shore Conference competition.

Senior wide receiver Saeed Blacknall had six catches for 68 yards and caught three touchdown passes from junior quarterback Dan Anerella for the Braves. Senior tailback Tyler Leonetti added 162 yards rushing and a touchdown on 30 carries, and junior kicker Mike Caggiano booted field goals of 25 and 31 yards in the win. Jake McCourt also had a 5-yard touchdown run following a blocked punt by Will Meany.

Senior tailback/linebacker Anthony Gargiulo had 87 yards rushing and all three Cougars' touchdowns on a 49-yard catch on a screen pass, a 38-yard interception return and a 38-yard run.

No. 9 Middletown South 52, Marlboro 18

Senior tight end/defensive lineman Tayler Hendrickson had a touchdown catch from quarterback Kyle Brey and a pair of sacks as the Eagles (4-2, 3-1) picked up a win over the Mustangs (0-6, 0-5).

Running back Jeremy Concepcion added a pair of touchdown runs in the victory.

Class A Central

St. John Vianney 33, Monmouth 19

Senior quarterback Billy DeMato threw three touchdown passes and Tim Hopkinson added a touchdown run as the Lancers (2-4, 1-3) picked up a win over the Falcons (2-4, 1-3) in their first game since the tragic death of former Lancers standout/assistant coach Ricky Vesce in a car accident on Sunday.

Quarterback James Green threw a pair of touchdown passes to Dylan Brown in the loss for Monmouth.

Class A South

Jackson Memorial 62, No. 7 Lacey 44

Senior tailback Khani Glover exploded for a career-high 302 yards rushing, becoming only the second back in Jaguars history to go over 300 yards, and had three scores as the Jaguars (4-2, 4-1) set a single-game school record for points and handed the Lions (5-2, 3-2) their second straight loss in a wild game.

Senior fullback Ken Bradley also had a huge game with five touchdown runs in the victory for the Jaguars, who ran for 500 yards as a team. Brody Graham also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Joe DeMaio in the win.

Senior quarterback Tom Kelly threw four touchdown passes and also ran for a score in the loss for Lacey. He threw a 3-yard score to Isaiah Brown, a 2-yard touchdown to Mike Bocchini, a 75-yard strike to senior wideout Christian Tutela and another 23-yard touchdown pass to Tutela. Tutela also threw a touchdown pass to Bocchini on a halfback option play.

Toms River South 35, Toms River East 0

Khaleel Greene ran for a pair of touchdowns and quarterback Tymere Berry threw a touchdown pass and also ran for a score to help the Indians (4-2, 3-2) blank the Raiders (2-5, 1-4), as the Toms River South defense has now registered six straight quarters of shutout football and its first shutout win since 2011.

Billy Kosh had a 7-yard touchdown run and Jared Egan caught a 39-yard touchdown pass in the win.

No. 4 Ocean 21, No. 10 Long Branch 6

The Spartans (6-0, 4-0) are 6-0 for the first time since 1993, as sophomore tailback Tyler Thompson had 155 yards rushing and a touchdown and senior Cole Mehr had a 6-yard touchdown run and a 42-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Royal Moore to lead the way.

Jordan Rodriguez threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Myson Pennington in the loss for Long Branch. Ocean's defense has now allowed seven or less points in five straight games.

Matawan 10, Red Bank 7

Devon Spann had a touchdown run and Mike Creamer hit a 29-yard field goal as the Huskies (4-2, 3-2) built a 10-0 lead and held on for a win over the Bucs (1-5, 1-3).

Class B South

Central 34, Lakewood 28 (OT)

A 25-yard touchdown run by Javon Hardy in overtime gave the Golden Eagles (4-2, 4-1) a thrilling win over the Piners (4-2, 3-2) and a big boost to their playoff aspirations.

Central sent the game into overtime when senior quarterback Marquis Drumright threw a touchdown pass to wideout Isaiah Akers and then hit running back Mike Yager with a two-point conversion pass in the fourth quarter. Akers also had a 40-yard touchdown catch in the win.

Junior tailback Chapelle Cook ran for a pair of touchdowns in the loss for Lakewood.

Jackson Liberty 20, Pinelands 0 

Sophomore Ryan VanWickle ran for a pair of touchdowns and quarterback John Veneziano threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Matt Pinto as the Lions (2-4, 2-3) blanked the Wildcats (1-6, 1-4).

No. 6 Barnegat 40, Point Boro 0

Junior Manny Bowen ran for two touchdowns and caught another in his first game in the backfield following the season-ending injury to starter A.J. Opre, and sophomore Paul Wickwire had a 51-yard touchdown run as the Bengals (6-0, 5-0) continued their best start ever by rolling past the Panthers (0-7, 0-5).

Junior quarterback Cinjun Erskine threw a 4-yard touchdown to Bowen and a 12-yard touchdown pass to junior Kyle Morris. Mark Magoon added a 6-yard touchdown run in the win.

Nonconference

Asbury Park 32, Metuchen 0

Senior quarterback Robert Barksdale ran for a 14-yard score and threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Tyquis Davis as the Blue Bishops (4-2) put together their best game of the season on their way to shutting out the Blue Jays (2-4).

Charles Sanders added a 3-yard touchdown run, Daquane Bland-Bennett had a 44-yard touchdown run, and Jaedon Stephens returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown in the win.

South Brunswick 28, Middletown North 21

Chad Freshnock ran for touchdowns of 68 and 9 yards and freshman quarterback Donald Glenn threw a 57-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Pitts as the Lions (2-4) gave the defending Central Jersey Group V champion Vikings (5-2) all they could handle in a loss on the road.

Raritan 38, Colonia 18

The Rockets (2-5) went on the road and stunned the Patriots (5-2), as senior running back Jared Collins had three touchdowns, two on the ground and one receiving, to give a huge boost to Raritan's state playoff hopes.

Collins ran for touchdowns of 4 and 25 yards and also had a 63-yard touchdown on a screen pass from quarterback Riley Sullivan as Raritan roared out to a 31-0 lead by the early third quarter. Sullivan and senior running back Tyler Jones each had 1-yard touchdown runs, and kicker Tom Pulcine nailed a 37-yard field goal in the win.

Pt. Beach 40, Highland Park 8

Senior Noah Yates returned his Shore Conference-leading seventh interception for a 90-yard touchdown and also had a 46-yard touchdown catch from junior quarterback Jake Fioretti as the Garnet Gulls (6-1) zoomed out to a 40-0 lead early in the second quarter on their way to a win over the Owls (0-7).

Junior fullback Joe Wegrzniak had 106 yards rushing and a touchdown on only four carries, and Fioretti also threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Marshall Gombos in the win. Jake Delorenzo and Mike Frauenheim each added touchdown runs.
