Fire Out At Jersey City Recycling Plant [VIDEO]
Firefightersbrought a fire at a recycling plant in Jersey City under control on Tuesday morning.
The smoke from the blaze at Sims Metal Management Company is visible for miles.
The fire started late Monday night in a stockpile in the scrap metal receiving area for the shredder at Sims' Claremont Terminal facility according to spokesman Sean Hughes.
The fire is being fought from both land and a marine craft while cranes move debris out of the path of the fire.
Hughes denies reports that employees tried to fight this fire on their own in lieu of calling 911.
No injuries or property damage have been reported, and there was no danger to surrounding areas.
A 50-pound pile of metal and plastic burned at the plant for 12 hours in 2010.
