Fire Burns at North Jersey Hotel
A four-alarm fire is burning at the Red Carpet Inn on Route 46 in Elmwood Park.
Pictures of the fire show smoke coming out of the hotel and firefighters on ladders trying to get guests out through the windows of the hotel.
The Clifton Fire Department's deputy fire chief tells News 12 New Jersey that everyone inside the hotel has been accounted for.
The fire may have been started by a mattress on the first floor according to NBC 4 New York.
Route 46 is closed in both directions between the Garden State Parkway and Boulevard as additional fire crews arrive at the hotel according to New Jersey Fast Traffic.
The Cliffview Pilot reports the fire broke out around 2 p.m. and there are concerns about the integrity of the back of the two-story building.
