Further investigation of a fatal crash in East Brunswick has shown that a pet dog owned by the driver was in the Toyota and may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

The crash occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Dunhams Corner Road, near Hardenburg Lane in East Brunswick on Sept. 15.

The driver lost control of her vehicle and struck five pedestrians as they were walking home from a religious service at Young Israel.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Naglaa H. Armanious, 49, of East Brunswick. Two of the pedestrians, Sari F. Horowitz, 51, of East Brunswick and her husband Ari. D. Horowitz, also 51, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The three other pedestrians, a 27-year-old man, a 52-year-old man and his 50-year-old wife, as well as the driver, were rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
