Firefighters saved the life of a dog inside a burning house in Bergenfield on Sunday.

NorthJersey.com reports no one was home at the home on Sugden Street when the fire broke out in the kitchen.  Firefighters broke through the front door to put out the flames and found the boxer on the floor on the floor not breathing.

They began to massage the dog's chest and used a pet oxygen mask to successfully revive the dog.

Deputy Fire Chief Gerard Naylis told the newspaper the dog was taken to a veterinary hospital to be checked out after seeing his family upon their return home.

The home was declared uninhabitable pending repairs.
