Edison Police pursuit through two towns ends in fatal crash

PLAINFIELD — Authorities say a driver being pursued by police through two towns died when his vehicle crashed into a pole.

But further details on the chase and what prompted it have not yet been disclosed.

The chase began late Tuesday in Edison and eventually went into Plainfield, where the crash occurred a short time later.

The man killed in the crash was apparently alone in the vehicle. It's not yet known if any officers were injured in the pursuit.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office is leading the investigation.
