Edgewater parents to remember Christmas Day murder victims

Murder victims Mellie and Melisa Stasko will be remembered with a memorial walk in Edgewater.

A group of second grade mothers are organizing the walk "to come together in peace" and remember the mother and daughter. The walk will start at 5 p.m. on the Riverwalk behind the Whole Foods store on Friday, Jan 15 and continue to the nearby Windsor at Mariners Tower where the Stasko family lived.

Attendees are asked to bring candles, cards and flowers for a short ceremony

The bodies of the Stasko family were discovered in their apartment late Christmas Day after a concerned relative called Edgewater police to report them missing. Melisa, 49, and her daughter were shot in the back of the head, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, while Stasko, 53, was discovered with a gunshot wound under the chin, suggesting a suicide.
