Egg Harbor Township police say three people were injured in the crash, which occurred around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday on the westbound Black Horse Pike.

Investigators say four of the vehicles were stopping in traffic for a red traffic light when a speeding vehicle driven by James Christian of Lakewood rear-ended one of the stopping vehicles. This resulted in a chain-reaction collision involving the three other vehicles.

Authorities say Christian was charged with assault by auto and also received numerous motor vehicle citations. He also faces weapons charges after authorities say he had a handgun in his possession when the crash occurred.
