Driver Arrested On Marijuana Charge After Car Fire
Authorities say a 20-year-old Manchester man was found smoking marijuana after his car caught fire on the Garden State Parkway.
The Asbury Park Press reports Kalyph Scott was driving northbound near milepost 93.8 in Brick when the fire broke out around 11:20 a.m.
The fire was soon extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
When state police trooper Miguel Guarda arrived at the scene, he saw Scott and a female passenger who had been in his car sitting in another vehicle. After Guarda detected the smell of marijuana in the second car, Scott was charged with possession of marijuana.
Scott was later released. A telephone number for him could not be located Saturday night.
