Ray Whitney had two goals and an assist, helping the Phoenix Coyotes bounce back from a disheartening loss with a 5-3 win over the New Jersey Devils Thursday night.

The Coyotes were frustrated two nights earlier after giving up a late goal to Dallas, but Whitney wouldn't allow another letdown.

He scored in the second period and gave Phoenix a two-goal lead in the third by drawing New Jersey's defense to the middle, the flipping it to Martin Hanzal just outside the crease.

Whitney put it out of reach after that, squeezing a shot between Johan Hedberg's pads on a 2-on-1 with Hanzal.

Zach Parise, Mark Fayne and Nick Palmieri each scored for New Jersey.
