Debris Cleanup Company Owned by Felon

A company with a contract to clean up debris scattered in New Jersey by Superstorm Sandy has fired a subcontractor owned by a felon.

The Record reports that Ace Materials is owned John Stangle Jr, who has been convicted of stealing a truckload of salt from a Pennsylvania industrial complex.

AshBritt, Inc., the company chosen by the administration of Gov. Chris Christie to oversee storm cleanup, says it fired the firm Thursday after learning of the connection and withhold $27,000 the company was due. The firm has been paid $250,000 for hauling nearly 23,000 cubic yards of debris.

The Record also reports that the firm may be linked to a second convicted felon.

Ashbritt has used more than 100 subcontractors in New Jersey.
