Deadly Crash in Freehold Twp. After Car Leaves Highway
Authorities say a central New Jersey man has died after his vehicle suddenly veered off a highway, causing a multivehicle accident.
Monmouth County prosecutors say 73-year-old Foreman Barkalow of Freehold Township was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday’s crash. But they say it’s not yet clear why Barkalow’s station wagon left the road around 11:15 a.m.
Barkalow was southbound on Route 9 when his vehicle crossed over a grassy median and struck a sport utility vehicle. Two other vehicles then collided with the SUV, but no other injuries were reported in the crash.
