NEW YORK (AP) — There is a deadline next month for homeowners who suffered flood damage from Superstorm Sandy to ask for a review of their claims through a federal program.

People who filed Sandy-related claims under the National Flood Insurance Program have until Sept. 15 to request a review if they think their claims were underpaid.

To be eligible, the claimants must have experienced flood damage between Oct. 27 and Nov. 6, 2012 as a result of Sandy.

FEMA says its claims review process is intended to be simple and should not require paid legal assistance.
