Holmes attorney Jonathan Wolfe said in a statement Monday that the case has been settled and an agreement was signed.

TMZ reports that Cruise wanted  "meaningful, significant contact" with daughter Suri as part of any settlement. The website also reported that they had reached a truce in a jointly released statement.

The statement reads, "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests."

"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

An assistant in his office who would not give her name would not elaborate on the agreement or say if the couple was now divorced.

Holmes filed for divorce less than two weeks ago, putting an end to the romance that began in 2005. The couple has a 6-year-old daughter, Suri.
