WAYNE — A township police officer — fired after allegedly eating at a diner outside of his patrol zone, then speeding 105 mph to get to a cardiac arrest call — wants his job back.

According to a report by NJ.com, Erik Ferschman has filed suit, looking for a hearing on his case and for the town to undo his firing.

According to the report, an internal investigation found Ferschman was eating at the Park Wayne Diner in September 2015, outside his patrol area, when a cardiac arrest call came in. He's accused of continuing to eat and then pay his share for the food, rushing at 105 mph back to the call, and then lying about his time of arrival to a dispatcher.

The patient was pronounced dead before Ferschman made it out of the diner, according to the report. He also is accused of rushing back to the diner, but telling the dispatcher he was still at the scene.

Wayne PBA Local No. 136 said in an notice online it is "looking for a show of support from the NJSPBA and the locals" at Dec. 7's Wayne Township Council meeting.
