A New Jersey legislative committee investigating a political payback operation carried out by Gov. Chris Christie's associates plans to subpoena documents and interviews from his lawyers.

Democratic Assemblyman John Wisniewski says lawyers retained by the Republican governor's administration to conduct an internal investigation appeared to have access to information that the committee hasn't seen.

Wisniewski says the additional subpoenas will be discussed as soon as the committee can be convened.

New York lawyer Randy Mastro says his team interviewed 70 people and read through 250,000 pages of documents before concluding that Christie didn't know in advance about the plot to close lanes near the George Washington Bridge.

Wisniewski says key questions still have not been answered, such as why a Christie staffer gave the go-ahead to block traffic.
