BEDMINSTER — President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence took a break from transition meetings Sunday to attend services at a Somerset County Church that was constructed 36 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Trump arrived in New Jersey Friday to start assembling his White House transition team at Trump National Golf Club, just down the road from Lamington Presbyterian Church. The press was not allowed inside the church, NJ.com reported. Trump Tower had previously served as headquarters for the transition since his election earlier this month.

Gov. Chris Christie was among those scheduled to meet with the president-elect Sunday, although it is unknown what time their discussion was supposed to take place. Christie, who was initially picked to lead the transition team, was demoted to a vice chairman position last week, after Pence was moved into the top spot.

When asked whether Christie could get an administration job, Trump told reporters that "he's a very talented guy." Christie's future became cloudy after he was recently demoted from Trump's transition chairman to vice chairman.
