Christie: Schools Will Make Up Snow Days

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says the state’s schoolchildren will have to make up the snow days they’ve missed in this unusually harsh winter.

During his call-in show Wednesday evening on the Townsquare Radio Network, Christie said his three school-age kids have lobbied him to waive the requirement so they won’t have to make up days this spring or summer.

With daughter Bridget looking on in the studio, the governor told a caller, “There’s a 180 day school requirement and I’m not waiving it.”

Many districts across the state have had five or more snow days so far this school year. Some shortened a recent winter break. Some are shortening spring break or extending the end of the school year.
