Christie holds firm on New Jersey Ebola policy

NEW YORK (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie is holding firm on the quarantine policy that New Jersey has implemented in a bid to stop the spread of the Ebola virus.

Appearing Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show, Christie said the policy is common sense.

The governor says he does not see anything draconian in asking health care workers who come into direct contact with people who actively have the Ebola virus to quarantine at home for 21 days unless they're symptomatic.

Christie says he believes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lagged in its response and is incrementally taking steps toward changing its policies.

Christie says he won't submit to political pressure when it comes to protecting the health of New Jersey residents. Christie says Republican and Democratic governors are adopting the stricter standards.
