Through the Republican Governors Association, which he heads up, Christie released a statement supporting Perry.

"I have complete faith and confidence in Governor Perry's honesty and integrity," the statement said. "And I'm sure that will be confirmed over time."

Perry is charged with abuse of capacity and coercion of a public servant, which he is dismissing as an 'outrageous' political ploy.

The two Republican governors now share quite a few things in common.

They each now have to wade through the clouds of political scandal as they both consider a run at the White House in 2016.

Christie and Perry would face off in the GOP primary.
