Vermonters who didn't pay ticket prices of up to $10,000 to hear New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie speak during an upcoming visit likely won't get to hear him via the media.

That's because the state Republican party has closed Wednesday's event to news reporters.

The state party's political director, Brent Burns, tells The Burlington Free Press the event is a private political fundraiser. He adds that the GOP will not be videotaping the speech.

Ticket prices for Wednesday's sold-out event at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction range from $50 to $10,000, with the top price buying about 20 people a chance to sit and talk policy with Christie, who Is considered a likely presidential candidate in 2016.
