Car goes underneath truck parked along Route 78, killing driver

BLOOMSBURY — A car went under a tractor trailer on Route 78, closing down several lanes and causing a multi-mile delay Monday morning.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Lawrence Peele said that a Ford Focus driven by Gary Sliker, 37, of Phillipsburg was killed when he stuck a tractor trailer parked along the right shoulder near exit 6 for Route 173 in Bloomsbury around 8:20 a.m.

Video from WFMZ TV showed the car partially under the tractor trailer.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured, according to Peele, who said an investigation continued into why Sliker's  car of the road.
