EAST RUTHERFORD — A GoFundMe page is accepting donations to assist the family of a woman allegedly stabbed to death the hallway of apartment building by a resident.

Monet Thonas, 25, of Kearny  was found dead inside a the building on Summer Street in East Rutherford on Dec. 18,  according to Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir Greswal/ Said she died from her injuries at Hackensack University Medical Center 10 days later.

Francis Tattoli was charged with attempted murder, possession of a Weapon for unlawful purpose kidnapping. He is being held pending $5 million bail at the Bergen County Jail.

A GoFundMe fundraising page set up to raise money for her medical expenses says Thomas was violently attacked after taking her dog, Meatball, for a walk in the yard before going to an ugly Christmas sweater party with her boyfriend.

"While she was in the doorway and her back to apartment hallway she was attacked," according to the page.

NJ.com reported Thomas' brother, who supports the family financially, was not able to organize her funeral because he was awaiting the release of life insurance money.
