STRATFORD — The Camden County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the New Year's Eve death of an 8-year-old southern New Jersey girl.

Officials say a sibling of Sailor Righter called 911 just before 2 p.m. Saturday to report that his mother just found his sister unresponsive and not breathing at their Stratford home.

Righter was rushed to Kennedy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. County prosecutors declined to release Righter's cause of death when announcing their probe on Wednesday.

\n a statement from the prosecutor's office, it said "only family members were present at the time of the incident, ruling out the involvement of unknown individuals." No arrests have been made in the case, and it's unclear if investigators have any suspects or persons of interest.

Righter was the daughter of a Stratford police officer who also has worked as an assistant firearms instructor and a warrant service officer.
