A prison escapee's weekend on the lam ended when he turned himself into Burlington County officials.

Westampton Police confirm that Michael Mimms was back in custody on Sunday night after he escaped during a prisoner transfer at the Burlington County Jail in Mt. Holly. He was wearing handcuffs and had no shoes on when he made a run for it.

Helicopters and police dogs searched all weekend for Mimms, who was arrested early Saturday for unlawful possession of a handgun on a warrant from Delaware County, Pennsylvania according to New Jersey State Police,

NBC 10 reports that Mimms' attorney arranged for his surrender after Mimms called his father on Sunday. Mimms' father picked him up and drove him to the lawyer's office who then brought him to Willingboro Police.
