OLD BRIDGE — An 8-year-old boy playing hide-and-seek with his brother fell out of a second-story window Thursday, landing on the concrete below, police said.

Capt. Robert Bonfante told New Jersey 101.5 the boy suffered a severe head laceration and was taken by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, though he wasn't sure of the child's condition. The child remained hospitalized with his family by his side Friday, NJ.com reported.

"It was two brothers playing hide and seek. One was hiding behind the blinds," Bonfante said. The boy's 11-year-old brother tagged him, and he fell through an open window's screen, Bonfante said.

The boy fell onto the roof of a porch, and then onto a concrete driveway, Bonfante said.

The boys' mother was home downstairs, and the child got immediate attention, Bonfante said.

No charges are expected in the incident.
