The body of a deceased man was pulled from the Hudson River in Jersey City shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said Sunday.

"I can confirm that the lifeless body of a male was recovered from the Hudson River in Jersey City," Hudson Count Assistant Prosecutor Leo Hernandez said in an email Sunday night.

Hernandez said an autopsy and formal identification are pending.

The body was recovered near Exchange Place, according to The Jersey Journal.
