Bergen County boy, 11, finds parents dead in murder-suicide, prosecutor says

BERGENFIELD — An 11-year-old boy on Saturday discovered the dead bodies of his parents, law enforcement officials told reporters.

Police found the bodies of a 44-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the West Clinton Avenue home.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said investigators believe the incident to be a "domestic violence based murder-suicide."

Officials believe the man shot and killed the woman before shooting himself in the head, NJ Advance Media reported.

The boy who discovered his parents went to a neighbor and said that his parents were not breathing. No other children or people were in the home, Grewal said.

Authorities had not released the names of the couple Saturday afternoon.
