BAYONNE — When police responded to dirty apartment on Saturday what they found was nearly a dozen dogs in bad health and an owner who they say was negligent in how he was treating them.

According to NJ.com, William Shaw is facing 11 counts of animal cruelty after he was found in possession of pitbulls of all ages who authorities say were malnourished and, in many cases, were unable to move on their own.

"These dogs couldn't even walk," animal control officer Geoff Santini was quoted saying in the story. "We put leashes on them and they couldn't walk."

According to the report, two of the dogs were allowed to stay with Shaw while the rest were taken for further treatment and care.
