Authorities say the woman, identified only as a 25-year-old Williamstown resident, was driving the SUV. They said she failed to stop at a stop sign, and the SUV went off the road and struck a tree.

The woman and the boy were taken to a hospital, but were later flown to separate hospitals. The woman was in critical condition, but details on the boy's condition were not disclosed.

It wasn't clear if the woman and the boy were related.
